LEXINGTON, Ohio — As the Grand Marshals led a parade of motorcycles around Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this past weekend, they sported new Simpson helmets.

Grand Marshals Tony Nicosia and Steve Johnson don their Simpson helmets for a Lap for History.

Grand Marshals Tony Nicosia, Steve Johnson, Gary Semics and AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Jeff Fredette led the Lap for History on Saturday and on Sunday at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, featuring Riders of Kawasaki, followed by dozens of riders who supported the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame with a $10 donation.

Scott Holbrooks, Simpson's product and brand developer, said he was honored to provide the helmets.

"This is our first year at Vintage Motorcycle Days," Holbrooks said. "We are making an effort to reach out to motorcyclists more than ever, especially to the cafe racers and people into vintage bikes."

Simpson, a longtime motorcycle helmet manufacturer, is not well known east of the Mississippi River, Holbrooks said.

"I'm an Ohio guy, so I am going around to as many events as I can to get the word out," he said. "For the fist time, we have a truck to take to motorcycle events, so I plan to make the most of it."
