AspenCash Motorcycle Rally kicks off May 16 in New Mexico

Event is third stop on 2019 AMA National Gypsy Tour schedule

AMA Press Release

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The AspenCash Motorcycle Rally, featuring a tour run, vendors and a parade, starts Thursday, May 16, in Ruidoso, N.M.

The event is the third of eight stops on the 2019 AMA National Gypsy Tour schedule, a series of premier road-riding events that includes some of the country's largest and best known motorcycle gatherings.

"This is the 22nd annual AspenCash rally and the second for promoters Humberto and Blayne Maldonado, who took over the event from former owners Ron and Jill Andrews," said AMA Recreational Riding Manager Heather Wilson. "These events allow riders of all makes and models to get together and enjoy friendship, food, entertainment, group or individual riding and quality vendors."

AspenCash runs May 16-19 at the Ruidoso Convention Center.

AMA members who attend can show their AMA cards and get the official 2019 AMA Gypsy Tour pin at rally headquarters inside the convention center.

The Aspen Cash Tour Run crisscrosses historic Lincoln County and offers riders amazing scenery, wide open spaces, country roads, low traffic and interesting stops. On the tour this year are Ruidoso Downs Race Track and Casino in Ruidoso Downs; Bonita Valley Brewing Co. in Lincoln, N.M.; Smokey Bear Restaurant in Capitan, N.M.; and 4 Winds Restaurant in Carrizozo, N.M.

The rally also features a parade through the town at 10 a.m. May 18. All riders and motorcycle types are welcome.

The AMA has been sanctioning Gypsy Tours since 1924. Originally overnight events with organized road rides and other activities of interest, motorcycle enthusiasts would converge on specific destinations. Gypsy Tours were staged in different parts of the country and typically occurred on the same weekend every year.
