  • U.S. Forest Service responds to concerns about dangerous spikes along Western states trails

    The U.S. Forest Service has investigated four incidents in which vandals endangered the lives of motorcyclists and all-terrain vehicle riders by burying spikes along trails used by off-highway vehicles and others, the American Motorcyclist Association reports.

  • CDC task force opens meetings to public

    As a result of urgings from the AMA, the Community Preventive Services Task Force of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control is reopening its meetings to the public. The AMA repeatedly objected to the CDC’s expanded focus on motorcycle safety and urged the agency to allow expert federal agencies, such as the Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration, to address roadway and vehicle safety issues.

  • Off-road riding protections, limits on sage grouse rules included in two bills passed by Congress

  • First phase of Mississippi's Rattlesnake Bay OHV Trails reopens

    About 25 riders and supporters celebrated the re-opening of phase one of the Rattlesnake Bay OHV Trails in Mississippi's DeSoto National Forest on Saturday, the American Motorcyclist Association announced today. The Friends of Rattlesnake Bay off-highway-vehicle group joined U.S. Forest Service officials for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for 9.5 miles of trails in an area that has remained "temporarily" closed for more than 11 years.
