Daniel R. Capparelli: AMA Hare and Hound Vet A champion

March 06, 2013

Daniel R. Capparelli, 40, of Sparks, Nev., raced in the 2012 AMA FMF/GPR Hare and Hound National Championship Series and finished first in the Vet A class.

His toughest competition?

"David Fry, but unfortunately David got hurt at round two last year, and was unable to compete the rest of the year. To this day we talk from time to time, and I miss the battles. It didn't seem to matter if he got a good start or I did, we always seemed to find each other out there. It's always fun to race with your competitor, and friend, it makes it that much better," Capparelli said.

"I have been racing off & on for about twenty years, but decided to take it a little more serious the last three years. This year we decided to take on a couple more series.  We will concentrate more on the AMA National Hare & Hounds, because we like the formats, and that type of racing.  It has the bomb starts, which are a little scary from time to time, but definitely gets your adrenaline going.  They have the fast valley's, and also the slow rocky technical sections.  It seems like you have to be a well rounded rider to do well in the AMA National Hare & Hound series."

Capparelli hopes to have at least another few years of racing in his future, "We hope to be able to continue to race the series for at least another 4 to 5 years competitively then maybe take a step back, and race a few here and there," he said. "It also depends on sponsors. I've was really fortunate this year to get some great sponsors like, HBD Graphics-FMF Racing-GPR stabilizers-SIDI Boots-Flexx Handlebars-BRP-Dunlop-Dirt Tricks-Fastway-Motul-PDI-RK Chains, and a huge thanks to Purvines Racing & Beta USA!"

"I would also like to thank my family for still supporting me. My wife, Shannon & son Kelsey are with me at all the races, and with out their added support it wouldn't have been possible. My mom & dad for help keeping my dream alive."

"In our spare time I am either working on my motorcycle, pedaling my bicycles, working out or just hanging out at the lake with the family jet skiing."
