Motorcyclists in two states did their part to combat childhood brain tumors by bringing $142,161 in donations to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation’s Ride for Kids events on Aug. 25.

Sixteen young brain tumor survivors attended the rides on mild, clear mornings in Asheville, N.C. and Ann Arbor, Mich.

“We’re going to lick this disease, but it’s going to take all of us,” Dr. Darell Bigner, director of the PBTF Institute at Duke University, told riders in Asheville. “We couldn’t be making all of this progress without you.”

The events featured local celebrity emcee appearances, tethered hot air balloon rides, motorcycle parades, catered meals and more.
