Archive Webcast: Watch the House of Representatives Vote on Regulation to Protect OHV Use
December 08, 2011
On December 8, 2011, the House voted to pass H.R. 1633, the Farm Dust Regulation Prevention Act of 2011, by a vote of 268-150. This bill would exempting rural “nuisance dust” from U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). If the EPA were to revise the dust standard now or in the future, states would be put in a position of having to impose regulatory restraints on rural operations, including OHV use. This regulatory restraint may lead to a de facto ban of OHV use on racetracks, in designated recreation areas, on trails and even on private property all across this country.
The Senate must now consider the bill, but it is unclear when that may happen. To watch live proceedings of the House of Representatives, please click here.
