November 17, 2011
On November 17, 2011, the House Committee on the Judiciary, chaired by Representative Lamar Smith (R-Tex.), voted 19 – 14 to report favorably H.R. 1996,
the "Government Litigation Savings Act." This legislation prevents
abuse of the Equal Access to Justice Act (EAJA) by large anti-access
groups and others who frequently challenge the federal government in
court.
The full House will consider the bill next. However, no date has
been scheduled. To view an archive webcast of the markup and roll call
