PICKERINGTON, Ohio --
Husqvarna has a long and storied history in American motorcycling, and this
fall the company will help salute two AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame standouts by
sponsoring their Hall of Fame Legends presentations at the AMA Motorcycle Hall
of Fame Induction Ceremony gala at Las Vegas' Green Valley Resort & Casino,
Oct. 18-19, with tickets available to the general public.
This year's Hall of Fame Legends are Mark Blackwell, a pioneering racer in
American motocross, a six-time AMA championship race team manager and a
well-respected executive in the motorcycle industry; and Torsten Hallman, a
four-time FIM World Motocross champion who was instrumental in introducing the
sport of motocross to America and later founded the Thor brand.
Both AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famers have deep roots with the Husqvarna brand,
having competed on the brand's motorcycles throughout much of their racing
careers, noted Jeffrey Heininger, chairman of the American Motorcycle Heritage
Foundation Board of Directors, which oversees the Hall of Fame.
"These two extraordinary gentlemen have shared many experiences together
in their decades of friendship," Heininger said. "On the night of
October 18, the new Husqvarna will help us honor them in an experience like no
other as they become AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Legends alongside our incoming
class of 2013."
The AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Friday, Oct. 18, will
officially honor the class of 2013: AMA Supercross and Motocross champion Ricky
Carmichael; AMA and desert racing champion Danny Hamel; racer, promoter and
motorcycle industry icon Norm McDonald; AMA roadracing champion Randy Renfrow;
and motorcycling fundraisers and Ride For Kids founders Mike and Dianne
