Director of Development & AMHF Operations

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA), the premier membership association dedicated to promoting the motorcycling lifestyle and protecting the future of motorcycling, is seeking an experienced professional with demonstrated leadership experience for the position of Director of Development & American Motorcycle Heritage Foundation (AMHF) Operations.  Based at AMA’s headquarters office in Pickerington, OH, the Director of Development & AMHF Operations is responsible for development and fundraising initiatives for the AMA and the AMHF, as well as providing operational leadership and direction for the AMHF and associated Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum.

This individual will develop, implement & maintain a comprehensive corporate fundraising system for the benefit of AMA and AMHF, elements of which will include annual giving plans, relationship management, strategic philanthropy, sponsorships and fundraising events. The director will establish goals for soliciting funds, develop policies for collection and safeguarding of contributions, implement and execute successful revenue generating direct mail campaigns and support third party fundraising initiatives.

The director will also provide leadership and direction for the successful operation of the AMHF and its associated Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum, which is also located at AMA’s headquarters office. Primary responsibilities in this role include staff supervision, budget development and oversight, Motorcycle Hall of Fame induction process management, collection development and communicating with external and internal customers (e.g., AMHF Board of Directors, Hall of Fame inductees, collection donors, exhibit lenders, media and AMA staff). 

The ideal candidate will have a passion for working in a motorcycling lifestyle-focused environment and demonstrated success in capacity building for nonprofit organizations. Candidates must have at least eight years of fundraising experience in a leadership role, preferably with non-profit, educational or museum organizations.  Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree with CFRE preferred.  Please email cover letter, resume and three professional references to jobs@ama-cycle.org.  Equal Opportunity Employer.
