Could this be the perfect family ATV resort? The Four Seasons Resort, in West Finley, Pa., is on our “must ride” list and we think you should add it to yours.
Four Seasons is not your normal riding area, it’s more. It’s a resort for ATVs and motorcycles.
Nestled on 800 acres of rolling hills, in the extreme southwest corner of Pennsylvania, there is something for every member of the family—rider and non-rider.
There are special events scheduled just about every weekend: bingo, pool tournaments, cook outs, scavenger hunts, kids' fishing tournaments, movie and popcorn nights, ice cream socials, Las Vegas nights, and the list goes on and on.
There are special events just for ATV riders also, including poker, runs, mud drags and ATV rodeo and obstacle courses just to mention a few.
If you want to trail ride, there are 16 miles of designated ATV trails for every ability, from easy to most difficult.
Your lodging options are many. There are 200 camp sites for motor homes and campers, there are 30 full-service sites with electric, water and sewer hookups, and 17 pull-thru sites.
If you want to tent camp there are sites with or without hook-ups. There are a number of showers and bathrooms conveniently located to the camp sites.
If you don’t want to camp, you can choose from a motel, apartments or cabins. Motel rooms start at $45, apartments at $85 and a cabin with a two-night stay is $195.
If you want to lie in the sun or just cool off, there are indoor and outdoor pools. The snack bar at the pool comes in handy.
The onsite laundry will come in handy, also, for those long weekends, as well as the convenience store. The store has all the necessities, including ice, snacks and cold drinks. If you don’t want to cook, the full-service restaurant is open weekends.
To ride the trails, there are a few simple rules. You must have proof of insurance for your ATV or motorcycle and pay a $25 annual fee or $10 per bike per continuous stay.
Helmets must be worn at all times, and no riding double on the trails. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. A quiet 94-decibel exhaust (stock) is a must.
Riding hours are 9 a.m. to dusk, and ride on designated trails only, stay off all grassy areas. Slow 10 mph riding is allowed on the roads to access trails and amenities, but no joy riding, that is what the trails are for.
The Four Seasons Resort is just south of I-70, between Wheeling, W.V., and Washington, Pa. From I-70 take Exit 6, Claysville, and take Rt. 10 to 231 South. Stay on 231 then right on Burnsville Ridge Road.
