Some 12 miles northeast of Parker, Ariz., the Copper Basin Dunes OHV Area is a 1,275-acre open riding area managed by the BLM, but there is also riding on designated routes surrounding the OHV area, including up in the canyons.
The BLM reports that the staging area has a paved parking lot, restroom, loading ramp and bulletin board.
Vehicles must be street legal or have state-required off-highway vehicle stickers. Interestingly, California Off-Highway Recreational Motor Vehicle regulations apply for using Copper Basin Dunes. See OHV.parks.ca.gov/.
To get there, from Arizona Highway 95 cross the river at Parker Dam and travel south on Parker Dam Road. From the town of Parker, cross the river to California and travel 12 miles north on Parker Dam Road. The OHV staging area is on the west side of the road across from Big Bend Resort.
