Coverage denied

For years, the AMA has been fighting discrimination against motorcyclists when it comes to health care coverage. Many insurance policies deny coverage for injuries sustained while riding a motorcycle or ATV. And the new national health care plan does nothing to alleviate the problem.

E15 and Motorcycles

The AMA has expressed concerns about E15 being mistakenly used and possibly damaging engines in motorcycles and ATVs, and about the continued availability of gasoline that has no ethanol, or gasoline with only a 10 percent blend, that is safe for use in motorcycles and ATVs.

Motorcycle-Only Checkpoints

Here you will find information on the AMA's efforts to end motorcycle-only checkpoints, which single out motorcyclists for official roadside checks that don't ensnare drivers of other vehicles.

Justice For All

Focusing attention on inadequate sentencing of drivers who seriously injure or kill motorcyclists, and to push for laws with tougher penalties.

Fuel The Fund

The AMA has contributed $100,000 toward matching funds to take full advantage of a federal grant for a study into the causes of motorcycle crashes. The industry is also contributing to this important effort. We're asking individual motorcyclists to chip in, too.

AMA Position Statements

Where the AMA stands on distracted and inattentive vehicle operation, voluntary helmet use, excessive motorcycle sound, rider education, lane splitting and motorcycle access to public lands.

Sound Management

A review of the AMA's work in the areas of on- and off-highway motorcycle sound, as well as information about Sound Advice, a document that addresses the issue and is a result of the National Summit on Motorcycle Sound composed of all segments of the motorcycling community.

AMA News And Notes

A monthly service compiled and edited by the AMA Government Relations Staff to keep motorcyclists informed of happenings around the world.

AMA Public Service Announcements

The AMA has recorded new public services announcement (PSA) videos with AMA Board of Directors member and actor Perry King. The PSAs discuss impaired riding, excessive exhaust sound, the importance of the proper safety gear, responsible and safe off-road riding, and deliver an important message to drivers to watch out for motorcyclists on the road.
