Danny Eslick grabbed a historic win in the action-packed 77th running of the Daytona 200 on Saturday, March 17. With several of his rivals dropping out of the race due to to crashes or technical problems, the TOBC Racing rider crossed the finish line more than 26 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Cory West to take his fourth Daytona 200 crown. Eslick now ranks third on the all-time Daytona 200 wins list.
After the race, Eslick described the win as the most meaningful of his four titles. Three weeks ago, Eslick's team was not planning on competing in the event. Using some last-minute sponsorship, an all-volunteer pit crew, a spare engine, and some last-minute engine tuning, the team came together to help Eslick cement his name in the motorcycle road racing history books.
For West it was his second-consecutive second-place finish, while Robertino Pietri used a classic Daytona draft pass on fourth-place finisher Geoff May on the last lap to round out the podium.
