SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Dallas Daniels and Tom Drane owned the night as the racing at the 2018 AMA Flat Track National Championship concluded under the lights and on the short track at the Illinois State Fairgrounds' Multi-Purpose Arena. Daniels and Drane each recorded three wins on the night, leading a group of 14 winners over the evening's course of 19 main event races.

Trent T. Lowe, who had been a top performer in the previous two programs, managed one win on the evening but could not match rival Daniels' pace for most of the evening short track program.

At the conclusion of the night's racing, points were tallied and 20 AMA Flat Track National Champions were named. Championship standings were based on a rider's performance over the championship's three programs. The four-day event featured the nation's best amateur flat track racing talent competing on three kinds of flat track circuits (half-mile, short track and TT).

The 2018 AMA Flat Track Grand Championship Youth Rider of the Year Award was presented to Tom Drane. The Australian made the most of his first time competing in the United States by winning three class championships.

The 2018 AMA Flat Track Grand Championship Vet/Senior Rider of the Year Award was presented to Jon Nunes. Nunes was also named class champion in the Senior 40+ class.

Also named were the winners of two prestigious AMA Awards. Dallas Daniels was named the winner of the 2018 Nicky Hayden AMA Flat Track Horizon Award. Kody Kopp was named the winner of the AMA Fast Brain Award.
