AMA Pro/Am Motocross

AMA Pro/Am Motocross events are open to both professionally licensed and A-class amateur motocross racers. The events allow amateurs to gain experience on America's top motocross tracks and prepare for the fast pace and long motos that professional racing demands.

AMA Pro/Am Motocross events are one of the paths to a professional license. To be considered for a professional motocross license, competitors must have earned at least 75 advancement points (at the time of application) in AMA Pro/Am Motocross events in a continuous 12-month period. Points are based on overall finishes in either the 250 Pro-Am and Open Pro-Am classes. Points from each class are not combined.

Pro/Am Points Information

Points must be earned in a single class (250 Pro/Am: 122cc-250cc; Open Pro/Am: 122cc-Open). Points cannot be combined between the two classes. Points can be accumulated in any Pro/Am MX events in any region. All Pro/Am points must be earned in a 12-month period (example, March 2009 to February 2010).

At Pro/Am events where Stock and Modified classes are offered, points will be awarded in 250A and Open A modified classes only.

Pro/Am Motocross points cannot be combined with points earned in the AMA Arenacross Series.

Note: Races associated with Loretta Lynn Area Qualifiers (posted as LLQ) will receive points in the following classes: 250 A, Open A and Pro-Sport. The Pro-Sport Class will provide Pro-Am points for both 250 and Open class (race results will be duplicated and be posted in both classes).

Points are awarded based on overall finish according to the points scale shown to the right. No races will provide double points.
