Mark Weirich: AMA National Hare and Hound 40+ A class champion
March 05, 2013
Mark Weirich, 43, of Bozeman, Mont., raced in the 2012 AMA FMF/GPR Hare and Hound National Championship Series and finished first in the 40-plus A class.
His toughest competition came from Paul Krause and Chris Mast, both from Utah. "Both these guys are blazing fast and know their terrain like the back of their hand," Weirich said. "It takes a huge effort to beat them."
"This is by far my favorite series, because there are no boring laps," he explained. "Every mile of the 8-120 miles is different. I love reading the terrain at speed."
Weirich has been racing motorcycles for about 10 years, but before that he has raced cars, mountain bikes, road bicycles, skis and snowboards.
For 2013 he returns to the AMA FMF/GPR Hare and Hound National Championship Series, "trying to defend the No. 1 plate."
he’s not racing, Weirich spends a lot of his time working for his own architectural firm. He also enjoys hunting and riding his snowbike, along with hiking around and looking for shed horns with his wife and dog.
would like to thank his sponsors: "Blitz Motorsports Yamaha, helps with my bikes. Performance Fix Racing (PFR), JT does my suspension. Moose Racing, Dunlop, Scott, Acerbis, Jett, FMF, Rekluse, Fasst Co., Pivot Works, Cylinder Works, SCS Vinyl Works, Sunstar, Twin Air, EVS... Bozeman Brewing Co. helps out with proper nutrition. Thanks to Paige, my wife, for putting up with my antics as well."
"I also would like to thank my extended family and home away from home; all the desert rats that have helped me win the series in 2010, 2012 and are helping me again in 2013!" Weirich said.
