Charles M. Carter: 2012 Vintage MX 100cc champion
March 05, 2013
Charles M. Carter, from Indianapolis, earned the national No. 1 plate in the Vintage 100cc class for 2012 in the AMA Vintage Grand Championships at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, during AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days.
Who was Carter's toughest competition?
"Everyone that had a 100 cc motocross bike!" he said. "But especially the younger generation."
Carter raced for a few years in his early life, from about 15-18 years old. He then took a long hiatus until he was 45 and has been racing ever since, Carter is now 56.
Carter enjoys racing in the AMA Vintage Grand Championships because it is "close to home, it coincides with AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, and it's a four-day weekend."
For the 2013 season he plans to do more racing nationally.
Carter has no plans of giving up racing anytime soon. He said he will be racing "until I'm dead, and hopefully that will be a long, long time from now!"
Outside of racing, Carter's hobbies include "work, work, work. Either at work, on the house, on my trucks, or on my 17 motorcycles."
Carter would like to thank "my mom and dad. Although not actual sponsors, without their support in my younger years, I would not be racing now."
He would also like to thank "my wife Annette, who lets me get away every now and then to go racing, and my fellow MX-ers who support each other at every race and between races."
