Round one of the AMA East National Harescramble Championship
January 17, 2013
The following is an industry press release...
The AMA East National Harescramble Championship series makes its first stop of the year on January 26 & 27 at Sumter, SC for the 14th annual Burnt Gin Harescramble.
The SERMA club, organizing this SETRA event, promises a great time in the South Carolina woods and have pulled out all the stops for this Sumter Dirt Bike Week event.
Being that this is the first national event of the year, it provides a great opportunity for factory guys to get out and test their rides. Sumter will also be the location of the 44th annual Sumter Enduro the following weekend, there are still some entries open for the enduro.
For Northern racers this provides an opportunity to race on something less slippery than ice and snow and also enjoy a little southern hospitality. The race will take place in the Manchester State Forest, east of Columbia, SC, and will include youth and adult bike classes.
The track is mostly sand, fairly fast and free flowing, with some fire groves to occasionally slow it down a little. Entry fees will be for the weekend will be $5 gate, $60 pro, $40 amateur, $25 youth and there will be a $800+ cash purse for the pros.
Free camping will be available on site for the harescrambles weekend only, if you need to camp during the week the SERMA club may be able to accommodate you. There are plenty of hotels in the area--please refer to the SERMA website for a list.
No alcohol, campfires, pitbikes or ATV’s are allowed at this event. If you want more seat time, SETRA will also be running mini cross country events on the 26th.
