Video: Amend the CPSIA rally
April 09, 2009
The below video covers a rally to amend the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). The rally, which included representatives from the AMA and AMA members, was held April 1 in Washington, D.C.
The law, which went into effect in February, was meant to protect children 12 and under from toys containing lead by banning those products. However, the law was written so broadly that it also covers youth-model motorcycles and ATVs, meaning they can't be sold unless they are granted an exclusion from the law.
AMA Vice President of Government Relations Ed Moreland introduces AMA member Rod Yentzer and Rod's motocross racing son, six-year-old Chase, at approximately the 38-minute, 50-second point in the video.
