Mammoth Motocross and the AMA

Protect your right to ride and race

Over the past 45 years, Mammoth Motocross has built one of the most successful motocross racing programs in the West. For 2013, the mid-summer finale and the qualifier series join the AMA amateur motocross schedule. In addition, the six-race qualifier series will earn racers points toward the AMA King of the West title, which includes first gate pick at the finale in Mammoth Mountain, Calif.

The qualifier series and the Mammoth Mountain finale represent some of the best motocross racing in the western United States. (For series information, see www.mammothmotocross.com.)

To participate, you must have an AMA Motocross License or a single-event participation pass. If you are already an AMA member (Full, Competition or Life Member), you will be provided an AMA Motocross License. Thank you for your support! You are ready to race!

If you are not currently an AMA member, you will need to buy either an AMA Motocross License, which includes membership in the AMA, or a single-event participation pass. Both options are available at sign-up for the Mammoth finale and throughout the qualifier series. Here's how they break down...

Option 1: Buy an AMA Motocross License.

An AMA Motocross License includes all the benefits of an AMA membership, including the peace of mind that comes from knowing you're supporting the government relations efforts of motorcycling's leading advocacy organization. An annual AMA Motocross License costs $49 and includes membership in the AMA.

An AMA Motocross License also includes some benefits that are unique to Mammoth Motocross.

  • The ability to compete in the Mammoth Motocross finale and event qualifiers.
  • Eligibility to earn points toward the AMA King of the West title in your class, which will include first gate pick at the Mammoth Motocross finale.
  • An AMA Motocross License featuring your classification and photo.
  • Optional medical and insurance coverage is available for AMA members participating in sanctioned events.
  • Access to AMA Roadside Assistance, which covers your streetbikes, cars and race hauler in the case of roadside mechanical breakdowns. This is included at no additional charge for members who sign up to auto-renew their memberships.
  • Access to money-saving benefits from AMA partners like BikeBandit.com, Race Tech, Choice Hotels, EagleRider motorcycle tours, Avis and Budget car rentals, and more.
  • Additional money-saving benefits from AMA partners that focus on serving racers.
  • Discounts on AMA Supercross and AMA Arenacross tickets.
  • American Motorcyclist Magazine CoverThe monthly American Motorcyclist magazine, offering an inside look at the people and personalities that make motorcycling great.
  • Access to more than 3,000 AMA-sanctioned organized road rides and other events (entry fees may apply).
  • The ability to enter all AMA Racing competition events, from motocross to land-speed racing (entry fees may apply).
  • The satisfaction that comes with knowing you’re helping safeguard the motorcycling lifestyle through the work of AMA watchdogs who ferret out bad motorcycle laws and ensure the future of the sport. Do you know that some health insurance policies won't pay your medical bills if you are hurt riding a motorcycle or ATV?

Option 2: Buy a single-event participation pass

A $20 refundable* single-event participation pass allows you to compete in, and qualify for, the Mammoth Motocross finale. However, single-event participation riders do not earn points toward an AMA King of the West title and are not eligible for an AMA Mammoth Motocross No. 1 plate. Nor do they receive an AMA Motocross License credential or any money-saving benefits of AMA membership. Riders may purchase single-event participation passes for multiple events.

If purchased by the rider, the cost of the single-event participation pass can be applied toward an upgrade to a full AMA Motocross License. However, only points earned after the participating racer holds an AMA Motocross License will count toward the AMA King of the West title.
