Victory: Kids motorcycles and ATVs saved!

In a victory for families who enjoy responsible motorized recreation, President Barack Obama has signed into law a bill to allow the sale of kids' OHVs to continue. On Aug. 12, 2011, Obama signed into law H.R. 2715, a measure that exempts kids' OHVs from the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008, known as the lead law.

The new law is a victory that is the result of nearly three years of intensive efforts by the AMA and its partner organization, the All-Terrain Vehicle Association (ATVA), their members and millions of advocates of responsible OHV recreation.

AMA Family Capitol Hill Climb

Poster! The AMA and the ATVA thank the hundreds of youth riders, their parents and concerned enthusiasts who attended the AMA Family Capitol Hill Climb on Thursday, May 26, at the nation's Capitol in Washington, D.C.

The AMA Family Capitol Hill Climb event focused on promoting and protecting the future of youth dirtbike and ATV riding.  Event attendees met with their lawmakers to personally urge support for H.R. 412, the Kids Just Want to Ride Act—legislation that, if approved by Congress, would exempt youth-model motorcycles and ATVs from the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008.

Thanks to all who actively promoted, attended and supported the AMA Family Capitol Hill Climb. Together, we saved youth riding!
