PICKERINGTON, OHIO — Amateur motocross riders across the nation begin the final stage of qualifying this weekend at the AMA Regional Championships to earn starting gate positions at the 2019 Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship, presented by Lucas Oil.
The American Motorcyclist Association National Championship, organized and promoted by MX Sports, returns to the Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., July 29-Aug. 3. The ranch has hosted the event since 1982.

"The nation's top amateur motocross talent is set to do battle for a chance to become an AMA National Champion," AMA Motocross Manager Alex Hunter said. "AMA Regional Qualifiers feature some of the most intense motocross racing on Earth, as riders vie for a chance to live their dream of racing at Loretta Lynn's Ranch in July."
Competitors advanced to one or more of the 13 AMA Regional Championships based on their performance in the 55 Area Qualifier events, which kicked off Feb. 9 and conclude May 26.
"The Road to Loretta's heats up starting this weekend, as Regional Championships begin with the Northeast and South Central Regions at High Point Raceway and Farm 14," said MX Sports Director Tim Cotter. "This is often the largest race of the year for most racers as only a small percentage get to punch their ticket to the big dance. Good luck to all the riders in their quest for a spot at the 2019 Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship."
The first of the 2019 AMA Regional Championships takes place at High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, Pa., and Farm 14 in Centreville, Miss., May 25-26. At least one AMA Regional Championship will be held each weekend until June 23.
