AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Cris Sommer-Simmons has tallied 717 points through the first four stages of the Motorcycle Cannonball, a cross-country race in honor of AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Erwin "Cannonball" Baker's record-setting 11-day ride in 1914.
Sommer-Simmons was in 14th place Tuesday, Sept. 13, after she was unable to finish the stage. But, after a chain repair on on her 1915 Harley-Davidson, she continued her quest.
Four days ago, 90 riders departed Atlantic City, N.J., on their 3,304 mile route across the country in hopes of arriving at San Diego, Calif., on Sept. 25.
On Tuesday, Sept. 13, the riders started Stage 5 by leaving Chillicothe, Ohio, and heading to Bloomington, Ind. -- a 224-mile ride for the day.
