You must be 18 years or older and a resident of the United States to win. To donate, go to https://www.americanmotorcyclist.com/hof/Nicky-Hayden-tribute-bikes.
Known as “The Kentucky Kid,” Hayden, of Owensboro, Ky., was a force on the American motorcycle racing scene before taking his talent to the world stage. He was the consummate American motorcycle racer, emerging from the amateur ranks to dominate American road racing on his way to the 2006 MotoGP World Championship.
Hayden tragically passed away on May 22, 2017, as a result of injuries sustained when he was hit by a car while training on his bicycle in Italy.
As a tribute to Hayden, who was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2018, the AMA and American Honda commissioned two custom motorcycles that celebrate his life and his career as a professional American road racer and flat tracker.
American Honda donated a 2018 Honda CBR1000RR and a 2018 Honda XR650L, which were customized by Tony Prust of Analog Motorcycles and Jason LeCavalier of Artistimo Customs. The CBR1000RR is decked out in a full Repsol Honda livery, while the XR650L was heavily modified in a street-tracker motif.
Throughout 2019, the bikes are touring to select events and be on display at the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame on the AMA campus in Pickerington, Ohio.
The AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame preserves the heritage of motorcycling; educates the public about American motorcycling’s great traditions; maintains archives of publications, photographs, records and other documents relevant to the history of motorcycling; and maintains a Hall of Fame to honor those who have contributed to the heritage of motorcycling.
